As I have said before, I will be talking about Simulacra, so here it is.
(Because this is similar to Sara is Missing [well it is made by the same game developer], it will have horror elements which are not suitable for the fainthearted)
(Spoilers, duh)
Simulacra, the plural of simulacrum, is “an image or representation of someone or something.” according to google dictionary, and “is a representation or imitation of a person or thing” according to Wikipedia. The word derives from the definition Latin word “simulacrum”, meaning likeness and similarity. Simulacra is a game similar to Sara is Missing or SIM(which I talked about in my previous blog). The games are both about solving a horror mystery to find the whereabouts of the owner of the phone. Both of the games were made by the same publisher Kaigan Games OÜ. Some sites had explained that Simulacra is a sequel to SIM, but I think otherwise because they were about two different people, different people were involved, and there was a different story. But there is one thing that both games have, Iris, or the game world Siri.
Just like the previous game SIM, the story of the game is all on the phone that you suddenly have in your possession. It is a horror text adventure mystery game(that’s a mouthful) taken place on Anna’s phone. Horror elements throughout the game might not necessarily scare you, but it does creep you out by a bit. The sound effects are another element that you can find creepy
You find a phone on your doorstep1, you take it inside to investigate. There seemed to be something wrong with the phone, and Anna. In a pleading message, she explains that she needs help. Gone through the phone to find out what happened to Anna, and how will you be able to save her. After more things of the phone get restored, look through the apps to find clues of Sara. Fix the corrupted messages and pictures to find out more. Everything unfolds and you met back up with Anna. Turns out…(I’m not spoiling that much)
In the game, people don’t know that Anna was even missing in the first place. It was a longer game than SIM and it takes from about 2-3 hours to finish. There were a few parts that was weird, especially the part where the phone had to be rebooted. The most suspicious person was Greg, but he did try to help. There were also the knocks(be sure to wear headphones when playing) that sound so surreal, making me turn toward my door to see. After seeing other YouTubers play, I realized it was part of the game, which was interesting. The game is well made.
There is also a third game, going by the same concept of horror mystery, but no one is missing and you are the owner of the phone. It is called SIMULACRA: Pipe Dreams. I’m going to talk about it in a future blog post. See you in my next blog
Notes
1. I went onto IMDb to see what they had to say about the game and I didn’t see that I type the same starting thing. Lol
